Easter 2013

Week #13 of 52- March 31st The boys anxiously waiting to open their eyes and see their Easter baskets. Lego Planets and wooden race car kits were a hit, along with the candy, of course. The weather in Houston on Easter Sunday morning, was gorgeous.  It was such a blessing to be able to attend Easter services at UBC.   The Church is still such a big part of us as there are so many people there that we truly consider family.   Another bonus this year- we were able to see Adam’s Aunt and her family.  They traveled down from Dallas for the weekend and we were able to have lunch...

Easter Weekend 2013

Week #13 of 52- March 29th and 30th We headed to Houston to spend Easter weekend with Grandma & Grandpa Peterson.  As we traveled back to Baton Rouge on Sunday afternoon, the boys commented from the back seat, “This was weekend was fun!”  I couldn’t have said it better myself.   With a visit to the park, a trip to the Lego store, doughnuts with Grandma on Saturday morning while Dad & Grandpa played a round of golf, lunch at Kemah on Saturday afternoon, getting our fill of TexMex food, an Easter Egg Hunt, and lots of laughter, the weekend was indeed abundantly...

The LA State Capitol

Week #12 of 52- March 25th A view from atop the LA State Capitol Building…  (Can you spot ExxonMobil in the background?) We spent a good part of Monday exploring downtown Baton Rouge and visiting both the new LA State Capitol and the Old State Capitol Building.  It was unseasonably cold and windy for the South, but we made the best of it and had a great time. The LA State Capitol is the largest State Capitol Building in the Nation.  Who knew? The grand staircase, leading up to the entrance, has a step for each state in the order it was admitted into the Union. We could have taken a...

More From Nottoway

Week #12 of 52- March 24th After our photo shoot at the Nottoway Plantation, we went on a house tour of the 53,00 square foot mansion.  (53,000 sq. ft.!!)  To say the house was impressive would be a great understatement.  It was beautiful.  From the details of the woodwork and trim to the 3 levels of rooms and amenities, this one is quite the standout. The trim work throughout the first floor was gorgeous. One of the main rooms on the first floor, the Grand White Ballroom,  is just that… all white. It was used for the owner’s daughters debuts to society and also for their...
