A Kindergarten Graduation

Week #18 of 52- April 30th Our last day of co-op was today.  To celebrate, they held an end-of-the-year performance day complete with a kindergarten graduation.  I can’t believe how fast Caleb’s kindergarten year has gone by!  He has grown so much this year and has developed a love for learning.  It is hard to believe the year is almost over.  When we walked into his classroom he was immediately asking me if he had to wear the cap and gown.  He ended up wearing it for the entire (1.5 hour) program, well after the kindergartners were...

Baseball Begins

Week #17 of 52- April 27th Practices began a few weeks ago but the boys have been anxious for the first game.  As with every other season they have played, they were also anxious to see what their team names would be.  This year, we will be rooting for the Yankees, Marlins, and the Astros. Sumner and Jonah were thrilled when they both received the same number. As for Caleb, his new favorite number is 7.   Here are a few photos from the games… Caleb is playing T-Ball this year.  When he first found out he was on the Yankees, he was concerned.  We don’t root for the...

Ag Magic Field Trip

Week #17 of 52- April 24th The boys and I headed to LSU’s Agricultural Center for the Annual Ag Magic Field Trip this afternoon.  We learned more about agriculture grown in Louisiana, the animals native to this state, and insects and reptiles that thrive in the swamps.  The boys had a great time learning more about this area, but their favorite part (okay, it was mine too!) was getting the ice cream at the end of the tour.  LSU has its own Dairy and store that is famous for its ice cream.  I didn’t get any pictures of the boys with their ice cream, but it was delicious. ...

Priceless Moment

Week #16 of 52- April 19th I posted this photo on FaceBook and had to bring it here.  It is just one of many priceless moments on our homeschooling journey.  It was just a few months ago that Caleb was appalled at the thought of having to learn how to read in kindergarten.  Today, he can’t get enough of it.  Little brother reading to his big brother= priceless.   Quote of the Day: Adam walked in this evening as I was getting on to Caleb for misbehaving.  Later that evening, as Caleb sat at the dinner table finishing up his meal, Adam asked him, “Have you been a trouble...

In Preparation for Braces

Week #16 of 52- April 17th Sumner had oral surgery this morning.  He had 4 adult teeth pulled, 1 wisdom tooth pulled, and 5 baby teeth come out in the process of getting to the adult teeth.  (Just typing it up makes my mouth hurt!)  He had the work done in preparation for braces, which are coming in the next 6-9 months.  Sumner has a mixture of his Dad’s big teeth and my small mouth… a bad combination.  He handled it like a champ, though!  Adam and I are shocked how quickly he has bounced back.  He has actually been loving the attention he is receiving and, of course, the...
