Thank Goodness for Tamiflu

January 5th, 2015 Tamiflu is a miracle drug.  After Jonah and I were both diagnosed with the flu while in St. Louis, the doctor prescribed our family (all 5 of us) with Tamiflu, thinking there was a good chance the virus would spread.  We weren’t but a couple of hours down the road back home on Sunday when Caleb said his whole body hurt.  He deteriorated quickly with coughing and sneezing along the drive.  We were so thankful we had the meds he needed ready to go.  At that point, Adam and Sumner went ahead and started their Tamiflu packs as well.  (We were so grateful for the...

You Can’t Make This Stuff Up!

Week #40 of 52- October 1st To tell this story, we have to start back about a month ago.  At Jonah’s 11 year check up, our pediatrician informed me that they were following new guidelines and having all 11 year olds undergo some blood work to establish base line levels for Cholesterol,  Iron, and Hemoglobin.  She wanted Sumner to have the blood work done as well, since he did not have it done last year.  You can imagine the boys’ feelings about this.  We decided to come back another day and just deal with the usual vaccines for this visit. In Preparation for Braces

Week #16 of 52- April 17th Sumner had oral surgery this morning.  He had 4 adult teeth pulled, 1 wisdom tooth pulled, and 5 baby teeth come out in the process of getting to the adult teeth.  (Just typing it up makes my mouth hurt!)  He had the work done in preparation for braces, which are coming in the next 6-9 months.  Sumner has a mixture of his Dad’s big teeth and my small mouth… a bad combination.  He handled it like a champ, though!  Adam and I are shocked how quickly he has bounced back.  He has actually been loving the attention he is receiving and, of course, the...

Snap Circuits & Helicopters

Day 350 of 365- December 15th Had to capture a photo of Sumner & Caleb playing with their snap circuits.  (Such a fun learning toy!)  Sumner built several of the experiments that came in the book and ended with this one… a Water Alarm.     Day 351 of 365- December 16th As I opened our bedroom door this morning, Caleb met me with a serious look on his face. “We have a serious problem, Mommy.”  I followed him to his brothers’ bedroom and saw this as soon as he opened the door… Someone got the remote controlled helicopter stuck in the planet...

Christmas Card Outtakes

Day 319 of 365- November 14th We are doing something a little different with our Christmas cards this year and I hope it goes over well.  The boys and I had to get one shot today for the card to be complete.  Here are a few that didn’t make the cut, for obvious...
