Sumner & Jonah’s Christmas Piano Recital 2013

Week #50 of 52- December 14th Sumner and Jonah had their last piano recital with their teacher here in Louisiana.  It was a sad day knowing this would be their last time with her, but they played their pieces perfectly and made her (and us!) proud.  We pray that we can find another teacher as great as Mrs. Bellelo in Texas! Jonah’s piece was called “Blue Notes”.  He did SO good and really loved this song! Sumner played “Boogie-Woogie Blast” and, like Jonah, played his piece well and really enjoyed it! The two of them played a duet of “Carol of the...

Spring Piano Recital

Week #19 of 52- May 11th Sumner and Jonah had their Spring Recital this afternoon.  Originally, they were going to have different recital times (their teacher breaks the students into 2 groups for recitals) due to baseball games for each of them.  However, we received the call on Friday afternoon that all baseball games were cancelled for Saturday due to rain.  I emailed their teacher and she changed the recital schedule to allow both of them to play at the same one.  She also asked them if they would be interested in playing a duet.  They said yes. They started playing piano up in...

Their First Piano Ajudication

Week #8 of 52- February 23rd Sumner and Jonah participated in their first piano ajudication this afternoon.  They were nervous to say the least!  Up until now they have played at a few recitals.  This was going to be completely different.  Adam and I would not be allowed in the room to watch them play, their pieces were chosen from a list of acceptable ones, and they would have to play their memorized pieces in front of judges.  All of this was new and intimidating to them.  Sumner loved his pieces as soon as he heard them.  He handled the pressure of the competition well until some...

Visitors!

Week #7 of 52- February 13th & 14th Grandma & Grandpa Peterson, Uncle Luke & Aunt Mary, and their kiddos arrived this afternoon.  You can imagine the excitement in this house from the time the boys woke this morning.  They were watching the clock and looking out the windows, just waiting to spot them.  We have a fun few days planned ahead, including a swamp tour, and a plantation tour.  Not to mention some down time at home for the kids to play. Grandma had a birthday a few days before their visit, so we had a little celebrating to do! It took less than 24 hours for the chess...

Winter Piano Recital

Day 344 of 365- December 9th Sumner & Jonah had their Christmas recital today.  The recital was held at a chapel on the LSU campus, a beautiful place, filled with character.  We were thankful that each of them were finally feeling better because in the days leading up to the recital we wondered whether or not the boys would be healthy enough to attend.  As the time for the recital approached we made it a point to not talk about it.  This was the most formal event they would play at to date,  and I knew they would feel intimidated if we made a big deal out of it.  They were more than...
